Sleepless Thoughts

Talking about the night is better when I'm currently writing at 12:30 am; unable to fall asleep. So instead of following my own tips and putting myself to sleep, I'm going to write about them. This is a common problem for every single person, and if not, there will be a moment in your life where you will experience the inability to fall asleep. People usually have a billion thoughts passing through their mind at night due to the fact, its the moment where everything is quite so your mind keeps you busy with thoughts since your busy durring the days to even think about them. Personally, growing up, i always had trouble with sleep, if it was either monsters in my closet, creepy sounds, excited/nervous for something happening the next day, not tired.. the list can go on, and usually i like to play music and set a time when i want the music to stop. Also some people like to watch tv til they fall asleep, keeping your mind away from your thoughts will help you sleep. Also Taking hot showers or going for a walk, an hour or two before you want to sleep is helpful because it brings down your body level and calms it down to level where your able to become tired and sleep. I hope my tips were a bit helpful but its time for me to sleep xoxo.

  1. Hi Tara.
An interesting theme. The possiblities are indeed endless. What is prime sleeping time for one person is not necessarily the most desirable for others. You might want to post something about adolescents and why they cannot sleep at night and get their best sleep in the early morning. They have conducted many studies about circadian rhythms. Look it up on the internet - it is interesting.

Also, you might want to explore why some people need 10 hours of sleep and others 5 hours :) I always have trouble sleeping except after a big turkey dinner :) Ms. Morton

  2. Tara, please work to refine/edit your writing. This piece has potential, but needs more. Describe the torment of not being able to sleep. Be careful about generalizations like: "every single person experiences this", because it's not true. Some people have severe insomnia, and some of these people may have trouble shutting off their minds. Describe or outline the thoughts that play out in your mind. Provide some research on sleep studies and what works to help most people sleep. Ms. Morton's idea regarding reading about circaian rhythms is good advice to add interest and information to your blog.
